J'ai fait une longue excursion au Tadjikistan il y a quelques mois. Depuis Dushambé, je suivais la frontière de l'Afghanistan sur plus de 1000 kilomètres.
Dépassant Khorog, à la limite de la république du gorno-badakhshan, j'avais en deux jours rallié Murgab, en plein coeur des plateaux des montagnes Pamir.
Village perdu à 4100 mètres, à mille mille de toute région habitée (merci à St Ex. pour la formule).Au loin s’étendait l’Hindou Kusch. De ce coté des montagnes, tadjik et afghans vivaient ensembles. De ce coté des montagnes j'apercevais, de l'autre coté de l’Amou Daria, les villages et troupeaux d'Afghanistan. Là, je lisais pour la première fois, Les Cavaliers de joseph Kessel. Livre inoubliable.
I went to tajikistan a while ago. From Dushambe, I followed the 700 miles long Pamir Highway, along the border with afghhanistan. Passing Khorog, door to Gorno-Badakhshan, I journeyed to Murgab in two days, in the midst of the Pamir Mountains. Village lost at 4100 m high, far from any inhabited area. Further were the mounts of the Hindu Kush chain. From the mountains I could see, on the other side of the Amu Darya River, the villages and cattle of Afghanistan. It is here I read for the first time the marvelous book of Joseph Kessel, The Horsemen.
